Summer Camp Ardèche, France

6th July 2013

Colours everywhere!

Today we woke up to a sunny and hot Ardeche. After eating a healthy breakfast (which included delicious pains au chocolat), the campers headed off to their different activities.

The River Goats went rock climbing at a site called la Fontgarnide, on the outskirts of Salavas, an activity that requires effort and a lot of teamwork. The River Toads experienced how to live with nature, in nature. They learned how to set a tent, use tarps to protect themselves at night and other basic skills needed when camping or living outdoors. During the afternoon, both groups practiced their canoeing skills on the river, where they played a series of challenging but rewarding games(canoe hockey and other Canadian river pastimes)! The French Magpies spent the morning improving their French skills; Group B even had a test! In the afternoon, they headed off to our local caving site, La Foussoubie, where they learnt about rock formations such as stalactites and stalagmites; they also had the rare opportunity of experiencing total darkness and silence!

Today's evening activity was Colours, a game involving running, teamwork and lots of painted faces! After this long but exciting day, we are all finally ready for story time...

Phrase of the day: Don't tell me the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon.
