Summer Camp Ardèche, France

16th July 2014

Bright sunny day in the Ardeche!

Today was another great day for our campers here in the beautiful Ardeche!

The Frenchies spent the morning discovering new words and participating in scavenger hunts. In the afternoon, they went on the Mini Descent, where we learnt moving water skills while enjoying the stunning views of the Gorge.

A bunch of the River campers walked to the rock climbing spot in the morning, and spent the rest of the day there. They learnt basic climbing skills and were able to practice them for the whole day, which was topped off with a delicious ice-cream at Salavas, on the walk back home. It was an experience full of challenges, where we all realized how important trust and team work is to overcome obstacles. The River campers stretched, crossed the river in a canoe and then headed off for a full day of caving in Grotte du Derocs; second group of VC campers to ever explore it! They learned how limestone is formed, the impact of human beings and, as an extra challenge, they all worked as a team to find the exit of the cave.

After this extraordinarily active day, we all enjoyed a delicious dinner, followed by a fun evening where we all got to play Canoe Comando, one of the most popular games here in VC Ardeche. Before bedtime, as always, snacks were eaten and then.. story time!

Good night to everyone, and thank you for this amazing day!

Quote of the day: Life is 10% of what happens to us and 90% of how we react to it.
