Summer Camp Ardèche, France

13th July 2015

Activities are underway!

Quote of the day: Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the wind in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. - Mark Twain.

AM News:

What a fantastic start to the day it has been here. After a restful night's sleep all our campers were excited to see fresh croissants on the breakfast menu along with a selection of cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit.

As campers cleaned up their tents in time for tent inspection (and with some amazing skits to entertain the tent inspectors) the counsellors made sure to inform them all about what they would need for the day's activities.

We have now waved bye-bye to the River Blues who have headed off to go rock climbing in Fontgarnide for the day with Panda and Madelene.

The River Reds are currently canoeing over to the opposite side of the river to head off on their caving adventure for the day where they will explore two spectacular caves with Iris and Danny.

Our River Yellow group is down on the lower meadow getting their dry-land flat water canoe instruction before hitting the river with our good friend Tamas.

Our French Blue, Red and Yellow groups are all sitting under the trees playing some introductory games before being sorted into their classes for the morning.

Tune in later to hear how they all get on in their activities...

PM News:

We have some happy tired campers here at VC Ardeche. Our river programme campers - the River Blues, River Reds and River Yellows all had a great time on their full day activities while our French programme campers got to spend their afternoon trying out a new activity. The French Blue group got the chance to do some amazing rock climbing in a cave; the French Reds had the chance to go for a muddy caving exploration and the French Yellows took to the waters with a flat-water canoe session.

After a hearty dinner of spaghetti bolognese we are all feeling good and full. The campers have enjoyed their evening activity of team building games for the night which involving lots of working together, blindfolds and water. We are now all ready for a great night's sleep after story time where our Director Dave will read Huckleberry Finn with all the campers - a time typically treasured by the campers. Good night and tune in tomorrow to hear all about our second day of mad adventures here in the Ardeche!
