Summer Camp Ardèche, France

18th July 2017

Day 2 in the Ardeche !

What a day full of activities!

As the French students had their lesson in the morning, River teams, and "Frenchies" in the afternoon, went for half days canoeing, caving, climbing and hiking. The highest temperature reaching 35 degrees, everybody enjoyed the refreshing water of the river, the cold and (very) muddy caves, the rock climbing in an opened cave and the water splashing during the hike.

Paddlers played a game called "Canadian River Hockey" where two teams had to throw each other a ball in oder to reach the boat of our river leader Wolfie and all that while paddling!

Cavers went into a very muddy cave, with mud slides, tunnels, a lake and even a (cold) jacuzzi! Climbers were in an amazing climbing spot: an open cave with view on the river and the paddlers in their yellow boats! Finally, hikers walked all the way to the top of the mountain, just above camp and saw a beautiful panorama of the Ardeche! To keep us on going, our awesome chef Spud baked carrot cakes to take on each activity break.

For evening activity, campers played a great Eggshoot game where teams had to build Eggships, which were catapulted over the lower meadow. The eggs that survived were broken over nominated counsellor's heads. Wilding and Unicorn were the lucky ones to finish the evening with a good hair mask!

Tomorrow, we will head to the Caverne Pont-d'Arc and have a sports afternoon.
