Summer Camp LTC, Leysin
Sunday means excursion day!
The weekend is here, which means Saturday is here, which means it is finally excursion day! Campers, and also counsellors, LOVE this different and special day, as it is a break from the usual routine and it means that we go somewhere new; today we went to Lausanne.
Lausanne is a beautiful city, about an hour away from Leysin. In the morning we visited the Olympic museum, which isn't just very interesting because you get to see and feel what a professional athlete experiences, but it is also very entertaining because it is very interactive, and therefore an engaging museum.
In the afternoon after a packed lunch, campers were given free time to explore the city, do some shopping and relax. They enjoy this a lot as they get to spend time amongst themselves and make decisions independently and responsibly, which is one of our aims here at LTC.
After dinner, we had a self-defence session led by our programme director, David Allen, who is a policeman back home in South Africa. In a secure environment, he taught a few very simple but also very useful self-defence moves, something that both campers and counsellors got to practice.
