Summer Camp Santa Cruz, Portugal
International by day and night!
Today we had a day filled with first experiences for all of our campers. We started off with the usual surf group heading down to the beach however today they were also joined by part of our adventurers and so we were at the beach for the entire morning catching waves, learning how to surf and playing some fun games in-between. By now the surf school does know us pretty well and so the morning passed by quickly being all fun and games. It was really fantastic to see so many campers stand up on their board for the first time and to see how that just brought the motivation of our first time surfers up to a maximum.
At the same time our other adventure group returned to Lagoa where they had a morning filled with stand up paddle boarding and kayaking. By lunch time everyone re-joined for a quick lunch before the reds got to go to town and many others used the time to rest. This was very necessary since the second part of the day was filled with all things international.
The preparations for the international night had gotten the Pousada running. From every corner you could hear different music and see new dance routines. The campers also prepared a dish each to represent their chosen country. After a lot of snipping, cutting and toasting we had a fantastic international buffet lined up featuring Croque Monsieur, Caprese, Blinis, Gazpacho, an Arabian salad and a sweet treat from Eastern Europe. In order to be able to enjoy this all properly we had an international show beforehand where the campers demonstrated their creativity through sketches, dances and even language lessons.
With our bellies filled we will now call this a night and hopefully dream of all the wonderful things that we have seen today!
- Breakfast: Banana milkshake, sausages, eggs, bread and butter and jam, yoghurt, yoghurt cake, carrot cake
- Lunch: Carrot soup, Lasagna, salad bar, cream of custard
- Dinner: Chicken drumsticks with rice, salad bar and fruit salad
