Summer Camp Zell am See, Austria
Excursion to Krimmel Waterfall!
Today was a day that probably wore a lot of the campers out. We had a fantastic day morning, the German and English language camps advanced in the efforts and the film camp began filming their movies. The adventure camps were busy doing rock climbing, archery and kayaking. If this wasn't enough the campers finished their adventures early and boarded a bus with a packed lunch on their way to Krimmel Waterfall for and afternoon hike. The waterfall is one of the top things to see in the entire country of Austria.
The day was perfect for a hike. It was warm, but the trails were shady and we were frequently misted by the water being pounded away from the waterfall that ran down the entire valley.
Many of the campers were enthralled with the views that they saw and we could see in their faces the joy that they felt when they made it to the top of the mountain.
After the entire camp made it to the halfway point of the waterfall hike where many of the campers decided to call it quits and buy an ice cream while they relaxed on the rocks by the river, 34 campers decided to hike to the very top where they could look down at the beginning of the waterfall. They all made it and they all got some fantastic photos of them at the very top of the mountain!
The hike down was much faster than the hike up. Down at the bottom of the hill the campers got to relax before they boarded the buss and fell asleep on the drive back to camp and free time.
After dinner we had planned to have an all camp campfire down at the bottom of the hill, but when we arrived the fire pit was already occupied, so the counselors quickly regrouped and decided to do a counselor hunt around camp instead.
The campers were broken up into groups where they had to get clues from counselors who were hidden all over camp to figure out who stole Director Stu's waterfall. The suspects were Crazy Katie, Silly Stephanie, Perfect Paz, Incredible Ian, Bashful Balaz and Joker Joanna.
In the end it turned out that Incredible had stolen the water bottle at the pool with the spoon. For his punishment he had three pitchers of water dumped over his head.
It was a crazy long day, but the campers all had a good day!
