Summer Camp Leysin, Switzerland
Here Comes the Sun!
After a couple of overcast days, the sun has finally decided to show itself! Our campers woke up to a clear sky and a gorgeous view of the Swiss Alps!
Today was a thrilling day for everyone! Some Campers left for their overnight hikes, and the ones here at base camp participated in all sorts of outdoor activities- enjoying the fresh air!
Our French Students today went down to the town to interview some people on their preference for French or Italian cuisine! English and Science continued to make great strides with their courses.
The Greenies should be very proud of themselves after braving the quarry rock climbing! They were able to unwind afterwards at the slumber party, where they celebrated Hachem’s birthday!
The Yellows also faced the quarry rock climbing. Some were nervous but overcame their initial fear to ace the climbs and even make it to the top! Other Yellows had a great adventure in the woods. Our counsellors, hidden in the forest, were waiting to be found by the campers in order to give them various challenges to complete. A few teams were able to track and complete the most challenges, thus winning ''The Amazing Race''. After the Scavenger Hunt, the Yellows put on their trainers and headed over to the sports centre! They got in touch with their competitive side as they played football, beach volleyball and basketball together.
The Reds also spent a lot of their time in the great outdoors- with many starting their day learning survival in our “Shelter” activity. They then travelled to the unbelievably beautiful prafandaz where they looked out over views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding Alps. There, they did the “Big Red Mashup” where they played all sorts of water games with soakers and more! After a few hours of good, silly fun they headed out to play volleyball.
The Blues split into two, with some going on an overnight hike and others staying close to camp while still having a mountain adventure. In the evening the campers from the Blue Group and the Leadership Training Camp hiked to our beautiful campsite to roast some marshmallows and watch the sunset. They were able to hang out around the fire and cook banana boats, play some card games and relax after a long and demanding day.
Today was another incredible day and we can’t wait for tomorrow to bring even more adventures!
