Summer Camp LTC, Leysin
Sunny Monday: First Day Treats!!
So today we embarked on our two week LTC bonanza, which was kicked off by a morning session with Mr David Allan. Mr Allan provided the campers with a series of talks orientated around our 'leadership' theme, with some excellent team building activities incorporated within. It was so encouraging to see all the campers getting involved and interacting with the session, which displayed an abundance of promise for the forth coming weeks!
Once the morning session finished we had a delicious lunch, complete with panoramic views of the sunny Swiss Alps! Lovely.
Our afternoon activity at a local high ropes course was where our adventure really started! The campers had to lead themselves whilst offering encouragement to their friends in order to successfully complete the course. The courses were graded by colours; yellow and green being the 'easiest', red being the medium level and finally the notorious black which was by all accounts the most difficult. Despite the petrifying height and complexity of the courses, all campers embraced the challenge and gave it 110%, which in my opinion was an exceptionally brave thing to do. Whilst the park did echo with screams from the courses and also the gigantic, canopy scraping zip line, it soon became apparent that those screams were in fact screams of laughter! The camper???s enthusiasm and ???can do??? attitude all afternoon was inspiring and infectious.
After returning to the camp courtesy of the local cog train, we ate dinner, which once again was well deserved and thus went down a treat!
As an ode to the Olympic year, we provided our campers with a 'mini Olympic games' tournament for our evening activity. Games that were played included balloon challenges, log rolls, tug of war and many, many more wild and wonderful games.
Finally the campers resided in their rooms, resting up for another action packed day!
