Exploring ourselves and the village
The days continue to be fantastic in the Swiss mountains and the day started with a very special speech from Mr Phil. It has been a very participatory session, which touched issues such as how precious time is, the definitions of leadership, how important it is to start appreciating the wonderful things in our life, learning to look on the bright side, and inspiring others to have a positive outlook, too. The importance of life itself has been underlined as well as standing up against the unacceptable act of bullying. Interspersed throughout this presentation, the campers had the opportunity to play some very creative games, learning, for example, how important communication and trust are, as well as having an agenda to achieve our goals in life. In addition, they marked and openly expressed themselves with regards to things that they deeply appreciate, wish for, hope for, and believe in, which was a profound opportunity for introspection.
Exploration continued after lunch, this time in the beautiful village of Leysin. The campers were each given a scavenger hunt, where they had to complete a list of challenges, such as carrying the grocery bags of a local to their car, learn a story about the village, find the ingredients of a fondue, create with their bodies the Swiss cross, etc, allowing them to get to know the area, as well as getting pushed to explain themselves to strangers, be polite and creative. The best team were The Girls, who won a trip out for ice cream, and special credits are given to the most creative team, the Cool Cats!
The day was concluded with lots of laughs and the amusing games of running charades and Mafia.
- Breakfast: milk, yogurt, cerials, bread, ham, cheese, jam, honey, fruit salad
- Lunch: pasta with red sauce and chicken, fruits, cake
- Dinner: pork slices, chicken with basil, salads, fruits, creme brulee, chocolate mousse
