Summer Camp LTC, Leysin
Work hard play harder!
Mr. Phill came back this shiny morning for the second part of his presentation, and it became more and more interesting and interactive. He explained how important it is to make goals and to write them down in order to strive for them. He gave the inspiring example of Wilma Rudolph, an American athlete who although was paralyzed at a young age, she managed to become a star athlete. By interactive games, the campers had the opportunity to feel what is like being ignored and bullied and to be self-taught to avoid these actions. Moreover, interesting boundary breaking series of questions have been answered by all of the campers in groups facing their anxiety of expressing themselves in public, discussing the importance of every answer and finding out how similar fears and thoughts of people from different cultures are. The session closed with a theatrical explanation of Mr. Phill about the importance of properly giving instructions and feedback to others.
The afternoon activities included several leadership outdoor games, on the grass and in the forest, le Suchet. These games were very amusing but also productive, that promote cooperation, trust, communication and team building. The weather was again very beautiful and bright, and the campers and counsellors enjoyed it a lot.
After dinner, the campers were separated into teams and had 1h to prepare two skits with specific instructions but free to imagination. The skits presented were really creative. The campers made evidence of all their skills, talents and very good team bonding. The entire group enjoyed a very animated night.
