Day 5 - Friday Fun: Laser Tag and Event Planning
Friday at Village Camps was packed with excitement and engaging activities that left our campers with lasting memories. To kick off the morning, we were fortunate to have Cameron Parker, a seasoned expert with over 12 years of experience working with 14 to 18-year-olds. Known for his impactful seminars in schools and various organisations, Cameron delivered an inspiring talk that resonated with our campers.
After a delicious lunch, our group of 28 campers embarked on an adventure to Villeneuve for a thrilling session of "Laserquest" - an exhilarating game of laser tag. This exciting activity not only provided an opportunity for our campers to have a blast but also allowed them to explore something new and enhance their teamwork skills. Adding to the excitement, our counsellor groups even challenged the campers to an extended laser-tag match. However, their attempts to outshine the counsellors were thwarted by the formidable David Allen, our active South African officer.
As the evening rolled in, our campers enthusiastically delved into planning "Event X," an upcoming activity in which everyone would participate next week. Divided into seven groups, they were given the freedom to brainstorm and devise creative ideas. Equipped with a budget and a few guidelines, they had the freedom to shape the event according to their preferences. After the planning phase, each group will present their proposal, and we will collectively vote for the chosen activity.
Friday at Village Camps was truly a day filled with laughter, teamwork, and excitement. From the inspiring guest speaker to the thrilling laser-tag adventure, our campers had a blast while also developing valuable skills. The planning of "Event X" sparked their creativity, and we eagerly anticipate the innovative ideas they will present.
