Summer Camp Zell am See, Austria
Excursion to Sigmund Thun Gorge
Today was another great excursion day! The morning started out with a delicious breakfast, and then usual morning programs. For the entire Mountain and Lake Adventure group, there was "The Amazing Race" through Piesendorf. Groups raced through the village to solve riddles and obtain clues for their next destination. German, English, and Film Camps were hard at work with language learning and shooting their films.
After regular programs in the morning, everyone headed out to explore the Sigmund Thun Gorge in Kaprun, just across the valley from camp. The gorge was carved by a glacier that used to cover the area in the late Ice Age. Although the weather was not perfect, the rain held back for the trip. Some brave souls even dared to go for a swim in the icy water of the glacial stream.
Tonight's program is "Stock Market", a game in which the campers buy and sell stocks in some make-believe companies created by some ingenious counselors. Everyone really got into the game and it was great fun.
Tomorrow, the whole camp is off for an overnight adventure to a mountain hut!
