Summer Camp Zell am See, Austria

18th July 2013

Focus on: Film Camp

One of the specific camps that is offered at Village Camps Austria focuses on film making. This session, there are 15 campers participating in the Film Camp. Over the two week session, each camper writes, directs, and edits their own film. The films range from short to long, and can discuss any topics or themes the director dreams of. Campers spend their free time working on the films, and enlist their friends and fellow campers to act in their creations.

The camp is taught and led by Ed McDougall and John Strong, both veteran Village Camps counsellors and teachers. Ed has been with the camp for 8 years, and John is also a multi-returning staff member. They help with filming and the execution of the films, as well as offer advice and make the experience fun for the campers.

In other news, today was the usual busy day. Morning activities consisted of a mountain hike, rock climbing, filming, and a trip to a local museum by the language classes. Before a late afternoon thunderstorm, the camp was out playing ultimate frisbee, learning how to belly dance, and partaking in dodgeball and table tennis. Then the entire camp emptied off to the pool for an hour before GAME NIGHT inside.
