Summer Camp Zell am See, Austria
What a day!
This was our second Tuesday at Village Camps in Zell-am-See. After a stormy night, we weren’t sure what the weather in Austria had in store for us today. Luckily, the morning welcomed us with sunny skies and fantastic views of the mountains. Our youngest Adventure group learned how to survive in the forest - learning to make a water filtration system out of plastic bottles... and building a shelter with a tarp and other limited materials. Afterwards, they practiced their aim at an archery session; Robin Hood himself would be jealous! The older Adventure groups had an exciting day as well... doing Stand Up Paddle-boarding, Kayaking and Indoor Rock Climbing. The English and German language campers prepared for their 'Top Secret' activity, which they will get to do on Thursday. They also worked on the latest edition of the Village Camps newspaper. We are really looking forward to reading all about the goings on at camp. Maybe some of our campers will win the Pulitzer prize one day? Tonight's Evening Activity was our very own International Night - when Village Camps showcases the various backgrounds, traditions, and cultures of our campers. In the afternoon, the campers prepared skits, songs and dances for the evening presentation. For dinner, the Notburghof chefs prepared a sampler of various international dishes, such as hummus, Russian egg salad, Hungarian goulash, and of course, traditional Austrian strudel. Some of the campers even brought snacks in their luggage to share with us. Everyone had a blast during International Night- singing and dancing along with the presentations. Tomorrow is another big day... as we will be heading to Salzburg. In the morning we will visit some filming locations from ¨The Sound of Music¨ and in the afternoon we will do some souvenir shopping!
