Summer Camp Zell am See, Austria
Excursion Thursday!!
What a busy day at VC Austria!! All camps headed off site today on both adventurous and educational trips around the region. Immediately after breakfast all of our Mountain & Lake Adventure campers caught the train to Krimml to begin a long hike up to the Krimml Waterfalls, the biggest in Austria! Our kids were quite the troopers and made it all the way to the top without any trouble where they enjoyed the views and sounds of the water rushing down the mountain... So beautiful!!
Film Camp also departed after breakfast to take a VIP tour of a local cinema where they previewed a newly released film- Despicable Me 3 and also went behind the scenes to see the projection room and how the cinema is run. How cool for our future filmmakers!! Once they returned from their excursion, the excited campers got to work on their films and spent the afternoon recording new scenes and material for their films.
German and English camps met as usual for their classes in the morning, then caught a train in the afternoon to visit the interesting Welten Museum in a nearby town. At the museum they watched an educational 3D movie about the formation of the Austria's fascinating geography, saw a 360 degree film showcasing the beautiful landscapes of the region, learned about the typical wildlife and their habitats, and even got to touch a real glacier!
The whole camp returned just in time for dinner and some evening storms which only meant indoor fun and games for our evening activities. Despite the bad weather our tired campers enjoyed many sports and games before heading off to their beds for a well deserved good night's sleep.
